Creeksea has a very special connection with the Normandy Landings which began on 6 June 1944. Eighty years ago the marines stationed at the Creeksea Place Base of HMS St Mathew left the Crouch to embark on the Battle of Normandy, the beginning of the push-back against the German occupiers of France.
These men, billeted at Creeksea Place, had found a home here and several married Iccal girls. Ray Norcup, a Churchwarden at All Saints for many years, was one of those men. So, on the B0th anniversary of the turning point in the Second World War, we shall be remembering the bravery and the persistence of the soldiers who had been so much part of this community. They had come from all over the UK, arriving in Creeksea and Burnham to train and to fight for the future we have enjoyed. If you can help over this weekend or have stories or memorabilia please let us know.
